BUTTONLESS: VIVO APEX

Yesterday, Meizu Zero became the World’s First Smartphone with No Physical buttons, Speaker cutout and even without a USB port for wired charging. Now Vivo has come up with a same (not so) smartphone the Vivo Apex 2019 Concept.

The Vivo Apex comes with some beast tech, for example, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, has 256GB or 512GB of storage, 12GB of RAM and 5G – the last two are firsts for vivo as we have never seen any Vivo smartphone with 12GB RAM or 5G Connectivity.

Apex 2019 comes with “a” port, of a sort. The Apex 2019 uses what vivo calls MagPort – which is a magnetic connector on the rear that’s used for charging (not sure about Wireless Charging) and data transfer.

On the front, you have a 6.39inch AMOLED Display which also doubles as the speaker by using a piezoelectric transducer (which was first seen on Xiaomi Mi Mix) to emit sound. It has very thin bezels on the sides with No Selfie Camera cutout or anything, and we don’t know where is selfie camera at this point.

Our best guess is that It’s probably hidden like Vivo Nex Pop-up Camera.

The other most fascinating thing is the All Screen Fingerprint Sensor a.k.a Full-Display Fingerprint Scanning which enables the user to touch anywhere on the screen to unlock the smartphone with ease, this would make it the most-advanced in-display fingerprint scanner out there.

The Vivo Apex 2019, uses a combination of pressure-sensing & capacitive touch to replace the very natural power and volume buttons on the sides. This way you get the functionality of all the buttons that are available in present days smartphone while retaining a seamless, button-less design.

On the optics side, Apex 2019 boasts a dual camera setup on the rear 12MP + 13MP with an LED flash but what’s also interesting is vivo hasn’t said anything about the selfie camera – is it a pop-up slider or some new concept.

What’s also not confirmed is if the vivo Apex 2019 has wireless charging and if it’s waterproof like the Meizu Zero.

Vivo Apex 2019 Side

Just like last year, This Vivo Apex 2019 is a concept phone which we don’t expect vivo to release it to the market in this exact configuration, but like previous year vivo showed off the impressive Apex concept and later on released the NEX that used 80% of its technologies.

We will get to see more of the Apex 2019 concept phone at the Mobile World Congress in February until then Stay Updated with all the Latest Technology News.
